     Pianist Hristo Birbochukov, a native of Bulgaria, received his Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Florida State University, where he has taught piano as a Teaching Assistant for two years. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the State Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria, and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Southeastern Louisiana University. 
     Birbochukov has performed as a soloist with many orchestras and has appeared in numerous solo and chamber performances in Bulgaria, as well as in the United States. He has participated in prestigious international music festivals and master classes such as the International Festival for Contemporary Piano Music “Pianissimo,” and Las Vegas Music Festival, University of Nevada.
     Since his relocation to the United States in 2002, Birbochukov has been honored with many awards and scholarships among which the 2007 Phi Kappa Phi Artist of the Year Award, FSU Chapter; Edward Kilenyi Piano Scholarship, 2007; Tallahassee Music Guild Scholarship, 2005 and 2007; Florida State University Teaching Assistantship, 2004-2006; Liberace Scholar Grant for Las Vegas Music Festival, 2003; and Winner of the Young Artist Competition sponsored by the Monroe Symphony League and Monroe Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana, 2003. He is an inducted member of Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society and Seminole Torchbearers.
     Birbochukov has had television and radio appearances in Bulgaria and in the United States.
